Data, privacy, and backups
Local-first does not mean every feature is always offline. Identity, billing, updates, model downloads, and explicitly selected server AI features require network access. Creative projects and platform sessions do not become a cloud content library.
What stays where
| Data | Default handling |
|---|---|
| Media, recordings, articles, and project files | Local project directory or your optional iCloud / NAS workspace |
| Index, publishing queue, and records | Local database |
| Lightweight settings | Local preferences |
| Iceonix session, device key, and License | macOS Keychain and signed local cache |
| Social platform cookies | Safari on your Mac |
| Local AI models | Local model cache |
The licensing service receives only necessary account, order, License, and device information. It does not upload videos, scripts, projects, workspaces, agent memories, or platform login information.
Network activity
Network access is used for identity-provider login, Stripe / Alipay and License refresh, signed updates, model downloads, selected server AI tasks, and Safari publishing to each platform.
Backup
Back up complete project directories, including iceonix.json, editable recording packages, covers, captions, and source audio. Finish queue work before migrating a Mac or cleaning the environment. Do not place exported cookies, Keychain items, or access tokens in an ordinary cloud folder.
The local database is an index and execution history; project files remain the durable source of truth.
